He walked in to a job and performed woefully and this talk of an ageing squad and player power being the reason for his downfall. He is the manager, he isnt the coach or a trainer, he is the guy that has to get his staff working in the way he wants, call the shots and ensure that his team plays to the best of their abilities.

This suggestion that the players didn't bother is incredibly odd, clearly they didn't like him but are they really going to sacrifice playing in the Champions League and winning games just to get rid off him. How about the fact that both home and away he was tactically awful, they never had a plan A let alone a B, they were devoid of any sort of structure and he persisted in the same way game after game. They just got beaten and outplayed by WBA under Hodgson, West Brom had more shots on and off target against a team full of very good players.

Yes, they have ageing players but they also have a lot of good young players both in their squad and also out on loan.

He may very well go on to be a great manager but don't understand these excuses for his poor performance. To somehow suggest that he did the best with what he had is laughable, they finished second last season and at the rate they are going they'd be lucky to finish in the top 8.

AVB has undererformed no doubt about it. But at the same time he is a young promising manager learning his trade. He was isolated at Chelsea. I will be surprised if any young promising manager will be willing to move to Chelsea now. I am fairly confident AVB would have fared much better if he was at Liverpool.

Agreed, dont really get all this "the players are evil, he's a hero" stuff. He's done **** with the team who were runners up last season. Yeah they have a lot of players declining but equally they spent about £50m in the summer and some more in January. Think if they'd stood still or just declined a little bit he'd still be there but they look awful and most importantly performances are actually getting worse.
