they appear have replaced cathedrals as objects of wonder and awe to local folk to the extent that they are so dazzled by the enormity of these temples to consumerism that they all claim that their local one must be the largest in the country/world.

We went to a huge one in Hull and my wife embarrasingly insisted on taking photos of what she called The Wall of Coke - a whole massive wall of the shop was devoted to a displaying cans, another one to packets of corn flakes - presumably the modern equivalent of stained glass windows...

Dunno, the one by the motorway near the viaduct in Stockport aye. Never been to the one in Handforth Dean though, so you could well be right.

I live not too far from the little on in East Disbury/Parrswood. Sometimes we go to the biggun in Burnage, although that pales into insignificance compared with the above.
