Hopefully Borini has a great season.. good for all parties concerned. Just because i'm not a fan of him doesn't mean i don't want him to do well. Same goes for any LFC player

Yeah, I'm not doubting that fellow Dan, I just disagreed with the technically awful assertion. My point about the penalty was to disprove the lack of compsure as well.

He's never going to be good enough for us IMO, but I'm still delighted to see him doing well. He deserves these moments because he works his socks off and he's got a great attitude. Still I'd be looking to sell in the Summer personally.

Have you passed probation in your new job now Pablo? Back posting during the day!

No, I'm on a 6 month probation although I've been told I'll definitely pass, so as far as I'm concerned that's the green light to get back posting

I think the comparison made elsewhere of him and Aspas hold a lot of water. Good movement but don't seem quick enough or accurate enough in their actions when they get the ball. Given that one is new to the PL and the other is young and recovering from injury I'm willing to give them time to prove themselves but I do suspect that you are right. They don't look to have what we need.

Can't help but think that in his first season he was constantly played out of position on the left, or would come on as an ineffective sub and would get no momentum to create a favourable impression. That together with the bad luck he had with injuries and the dubiousness of the signing in the first place seems have coloured opinions.

That said, I think he'd be a better option than Aspas, but he'll never challenge Suarez or Sturridge for a starting place. He doesn't have the talent of Coutinho or Sterling either - he's never going to be first on the team sheet, but he might be an impact sub or important rotation player if we're playing in Europe next year.

I prefer Aspas over him. Just. Aspas seems to have a little something about him to me. A bit of pace and guile. I still see some potential in him if he can build his confidence.

Aspas has five more years experience behind him, but thats about it. I could see Aspas as a Swansea player, but not as a player in a squad that has higher ambition - Borini could develope further, the potential is greater.

I think he has slightly less potential than Aspas. Less skill, less pace, less creativity and less of an eye for goal.

If Borini was a youngster would tons of ability who just hadn't managed to consistently reproduce, like say Sturridge for instance, then I'd have more faith in him. However his talent seems fairly limited to me and he relies on hard work and good movement (good qualities nonetheless), so I don't feel he has a particularly high ceiling. Even if he maxed out his potential would he be good enough to be a striker for Liverpool? I don't think so.

I totally thought he would choke his pen last night he totally nailed it. Should be good for his confidence, with some good coaching there is a decent player in there somewhere. Good enough for what we need, I am not so sure.

Both of you are essentially agreeing with me, albeit reluctantly . I'm saying he is easily good enough to be a squad option for Liverpool. Think back to who we have had as striking squad options over the years - Diouf, Pongolle, Meijer, Voronin, N'gog - he's better than all of them.

Re being a youngster - he's 22! He was 20 when he signed for Liverpool! Aspas is 26, for that reason alone, I reckon Borini has more going for him. He can be coached and moulded more than someone like Aspas, who should really have hit his peak years - his adaptibility and malleability potential is more diminished than Fabio's.

                                I 'reluctantly' agree

There is a Dirk Kuyt type of player in there with a bit of coaching. Solid, reliable, faithful... a bit like having a dog.
