    'B' Teams

It seems a proposal has been out forward B teams to be placed into English football.

I personally think it's a good idea, but a lot of fans of lower league teams are less than happy about it.
The times they are a changin'.

It'll die before birth or be a bodged system which is dropped within 3 years.

I like the idea of B teams playing in the lower leagues, it'll never happen though.

Would be great for "big" clubs and the development for their players. But would be **** for lower league clubs as they would end up in even lower leagues or out of professional football altogether.

The FA would need to add a few more tiers in if this was to happen.

personally i think it's a good idea - as i reckon it's not far away from the lower division disappearing imo - to many clubs won't be able to sustain as a professional side.

A premiership, championship and well organised B league would make sense
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Why can't teams just strike up a partnership and loan players? The loan system needs revamping, I think B-teams would not benefit anybody but the big teams.

I remember when Rafa was practically laughed at in his face when he suggested this a few years ago. Its a system that can work but will never be accepted by the Football League IMO due to their suspicions of the top clubs motives.

Who would get/be allowed B teams? Would it start off with all the current Premier League teams? What happens when they get relegated/promoted? Do the promoted teams then have to create a B team? What happens if a Premier League team gets relegated all the way down to the same league as their B team? Are you only allowed a B team if you're in the Premier League?

              I want answers.

If they get this B team idea through, I think they might end up with some of the lower divisions becoming more regional - such as there already is with the Conference North and South). Maybe Prem, Champ and League 1 all national, then one rung split North/South, then further rungs split even more.

                Never gonna happen though.

Presumably any team could apply to enter a second string side, A and B teams couldn't play in the same league.

The Spanish model can't be that hard to implement if we were serious in bringing B teams into the league?

Would it start off with all the current Premier League teams? Just those interested / can afford to.

What happens when they get relegated/promoted? They get relegated or promoted. But can't get promoted to or beyond a certain division/parent team's division.

Do the promoted teams then have to create a B team? See above.

What happens if a Premier League team gets relegated all the way down to the same league as their B team? Then the B team is relegated one division.

Are you only allowed a B team if you're in the Premier League? Everyone can have B team put it costs.

I want answers. There you go.

Dyke on the radio said he thinks 10 teams would want to do it.

Tbh. the last thing I really want to see is more games of the same teams just with a B after it. Who will watch those games? Barcelona B, the club with probably the biggest local supporting in Europe can get 3500 on average in the stadium. That's for a game in the second highest competition in Spain. Don't know how many our reserves have today?

It will be incredibly **** from a spectator viewpoint and for the rest of the teams facing them. Sure they might be good teams, but nobody will watch it really. Much rather see packed championship stadiums. And it will be better for both travelling fans and for the minor clubs getting sold out away sections.

It will do nothing good except for 5-6 clubs in getting their reserves tested better. But perhaps it would be better to make incentives for clubs to use the players and have smaller squads instead, leaving the players to go strengthen smaller teams instead and make it more competitive?

                            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Darkon is right that the B teams wouldn't draw much of a crowd for home games. Maybe if the tickets were really cheap? Mind you, the gates at that level can't be that high anyway and I hardly think the B teams are expected to pay their own way.

For away games, the bigger sides obviously have a wider following so maybe local fans of the main side would give a decent away support?
