When was the last time we had a true potent strike partnership?

But you do admit that strike partnerships of old dont exist anymore.

Only since Bergkamp retired. But I think that's a poor tactic. Man U Seem to be doing OK with Saha nad Rooney (And Ronaldo - all 3 in the top 6 scorers to date), and Chelsea are doing OK with Drogba and Shevchenko (even though he's not scoring at the moment).

If you think that then you're too young to remember Toshack & Keegan, Dalglish & Johnson, and Rush & Dalglish!

that is not a partnership. they hardly ever play together, and when they do, they're ****e

This is just turning into naming two strikers that play in the same team.

Beardsley & Aldridge would be the last deadly strike partnership in my opinion. The last longterm deadly partnership was Kenny and Rushie.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

That's not true - only recently has Mourinho dropped Shevchenko. if you check the stats you'll see both have started the majority of games this season.

And if they're ****e - I'd like to us to be that ****e in 2nd place. Form is temporary and all that.......

maybe, but for me, a partnership only exists when two players complement each others styles. They play as two individuals

Give the guy a chance. He's been here half a season and his partner is scoring more goals than he ever has before. To me that's not bad. Not great - but not bad. I'd take Shevchenko right now over any of our strikers except Kuyt.

It'll take off when Henry's fit again. van Persie's done enough to prove to me he's the real deal (which Reyes never did). Thye just need to sort out their midfield (but not before mid-Jan I hope!)

                        give the guy a chance?

people were laying into Bellamy this season and Crouch last season far earlier than Xmas.

Sheva is living off his reputation at present, not only is he not scoring, he doesn't even look like he's going to start soon.

True - myself included and rightly so. But you're comparing Bellamy and Crouch to Shevchenko. I know which I'd rather have any day of the week.

Fowler and Collymore was a great partnership but was never able to fully flourish due to Stan's inconsistency. Saha and Rooney form a great one and kopdan is wrong.
