    Book review Liverpool

Just a quick review of a couple of Liverpool connected books I've read over Xmas.

If you're second you are nothing - Ferguson and Shankly - Oliver Holt.

Excellent book despite the Fergie bit. It's more a hommage by Holt to Shanks and a slagging off of Fergie. It has a new slant on many stories connected with Liverpool during Shanks' time as manager. Only found one factual error. Very well written. Worth getting if you like your history.

Gerrard - Stevie G's autobiography with ghost writer Henry Winter

Having read this now there is no way IMO SG will ever leave Liverpool. It's a bit thin on substance to be honest and hardly quality writing but his love for football and his need to be loved comes through. His opinions on GH and Rafa are enlightening and his version of the Chelsea transfer situation begs a few unanswered questions. Worth getting for reference when you here the next ****e football transfer snippet. Better than Fowler's book.

"Better than Fowler's Book" isn't a big deal.

My cat could have written a better book.

A friend of mine read Stevies book and came away with the impression that he was a bit thick, insecure and egotistical. That your read of it?

He blames Parry to an extent. Says the club were too slow in coming forward with a deal and telling him they loved him and wanted him.

                  All footballers are thick.
He is extremely insecure and needs to be constantly told he is loved.
He is very me me me. Too much so.

I read Gerrard's book as well - fascinating insight to the support he got from the 'Spice Boys' and his early England career.

I must admit, I'm not sure what Liverpool did wrong 18 months ago - Gerrard comes across as very insecure. He was offered a contract, told to name his price and yet decided to hand in a transfer request instead

Not sure about thick, definitely insecure, and very confident of his abilities rather than egotistical. He's quick to point out the many people who have helped him over the years. (players and managers)
