No, definitely not, but he was a class player even then. I can't believe how stupid Real were with him.

Essien was another we almost signed, if it wasnt for GH's bad record in the transfer market signing expensive flops from the French league, he could be a Liverpool player now, and for £3.5m
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Like Stevie G says in his book, Anelka was class and as good as gold duing his time at Liverpool.

Instead Houllier ditched him and spent £11 million on Diouf. What a fool.

          I've met Anelka in Liverpool.

Nice bloke who is shy and seems pretty down to earth.

He always bigs Liverpool up and I was gutted when we never signed him.

              I must say I was anti-Anelka.

Before he came to Anfield, he appeared to sulk, and throw away every career opportunity that came his way (Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG). When he played for us, he spent most of his time offside, and I didn't think he played that well consistently either.

I can see now that he has matured somewhat. He still looks moody - a big game player that doesn't turn up against lesser teams, but I would probably have him back now.

If I was a Bolton fan though, I'd be less than happy at his comments after the impact he had against LFC yesterday.
              Oh I don't know.

The problem is that he probably would cost £15m+ now. We could sign Krkic for much less and he will be a fantastic player in a year or two.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
