I personally feel the style offered by Kuyt is what we need at the moment, and cant see how Defoe is going to provide us with the "possibilities" we need. I am not saying Defoe is a bad player, just that Kuyt would be more appropriate for our team and probable style of play, and therefore a more positive purchase. But when its all said and done I'd be happy with the addition of a new forward and if we cant afford Kuyt then Defoe is not a bad plan B IMHO
