    Gabriel Paletta

I've read a few scathing things about young Paletta in a few of these threads.

Yep, he didn't play to well, some of the things said about him though are ****ing disgraceful.

FFS, what is he? 19 years old? Whatever age, he's still young, he can hardly speak English, he's just come over from Argentina, this is something like the fifth game he's started, etc.

I know it's your cliche excuse, but it's the truth, so i think some people should ease down a bit on their criticism.

And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
    On the Nong Ning Nang
    All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
    So it's Ning Nang Nong!
    Cows go Bong!

Toure started as a striker for Arsenal and he is now one of the best defenders in the World.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

All perfectly fair points - but it doesn't make his performance tonight any less diabolical. Which is a pity.

I reckon he'll be a full back. Set up two goals tonight, one was a cracking cross. A bit like Sergio Ramos he can't hack it at CB but looks decent a full back.

Going off what I've seen so far I don't doubt Paletta's ability, i feel, however that he has a lot to learn with regards to his decision making and possitioning. I would suggest that, as he is the same age as Agger , that he has been bought as a possible future partner. Palettas agression along with Aggers distribution. We still need to give the lad a chance. The performance all round was very poor tonight. Of the back four I didn't think Paletta wa the worst. Fortunately I do not want to voice neagative oppinions of who was worst. I would rather like to try and gain some positives out of such anawful defeat. So here goes.

The crowd was excellent tonight, made me proud to be an LFC supporter.

                And thats about it.

He's slower than Sami and not likely to get any faster and he's short. Nice cross, but he's not a defender.

He has a lot to learn, I feel that he next season he will be pushing for a first team place. A lot of people hate him just cause he's Argentinian, I know its sad but it's the truth.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly didnt think he played as poorly as some of you suggest, made a few good sliding tackles, was a bit weak at times when he should have held his own. But I thought he did alright, plus he set up a goal.

You can't tell me you thought he did better defensively than the hugely experienced sammi hyypia. He looked uncomfortable, dwelled on the ball in the box and conceded a penalty.

It wasnt a great performance but dont let a young player with a lot to learn but a lot to give take the rap for it.

Again I blame Rafa for this one, he played his two slowest center backs (and lets be honest they couldn't beat a one legged man in a sprint between them) against a team that has such pace up front, it was doomed from the start.

I still have hopes for Paletta, but he needs to play with Carra or Agger, an absolutely diabolical decision to play him with Hyypia.
