How's Aguero doing in Spain?

That isn't either to difficult. Joaquin sits on the bench most of the times now.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yeah, but you're making out that he's been some kind of revelation whereas he's basically been like Pongolle was for us. Scores the odd goal but mainly only plays because of injury. He's not better than Torres, he's in better form than Torres. When he's banged in an insane amount of goals for his club side then we can talk, but until then, remember what Houllier said - form is temporary, class is permanent.Originally posted by AFII View PostWhat I meant is that he has played week in week out the latest months after Atletico lost two key players for the rest of the season.Such an ugly face, such an ugly mouth.

Don't be soft. Torres is a fantastic player. Probably not worth the stupid sums that people bandy about for him, but still a phenomenal player nonetheless.Originally posted by dww View PostFair point. He is good though, just not actually the second coming of jesus that some seem to believe. Better than the equally over hyped Joaquin as a player though.Such an ugly face, such an ugly mouth.

He is very good and I'll be first to admit you have probably seen him more than I have but he has a less than 1 in 2 goals to game ratio which makes me dubious that he is as good as people say:Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostDon't be soft. I can see where your argument comes from, but it's a narrow minded point of view to base an assessment of a forward's ability on his goalscoring record. Goalscoring records can be affected by form, playing out of position, quality of team mates, even something like an injury to his team's star playmaker or something like that.Originally posted by dww View PostHe is very good and I'll be first to admit you have probably seen him more than I have but he has a less than 1 in 2 goals to game ratio which makes me dubious that he is as good as people say:

The important thing is that Torres has the ability to be a superb striker. He's got the key attributes, it might just take a bit of clever coaching to bring it out of him properly. I think he might have also suffered as someone said above (it may have even been you) from being a big fish in a medium sized pond and having the weight of his own hype to live up to.Such an ugly face, such an ugly mouth.

I completely agree, and I did like what I saw of him in the WC but most of the times I have seen him he hasn't stood out as much as I had expected. I guess my opinion is in many ways a reaction to the fact that certain people on here ( and other forums and the press) are prone to bigging up any player (say Carew) who looks good in one game.Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostI can see where your argument comes from, but it's a narrow minded point of view to base an assessment of a forward's ability on his goalscoring record. watched a few athletico games this season as well, and aguero is coming on form, he didn't start out all that well and needed some time to find his rhythm, he's been playing great of lately though, but you can still see that he has a lot left to offer, he is going to get so much better, we really did miss out on a fantastic player..."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Phil, 5 goals in 12 games isnt too bad for a 17yr old in a new club/country.Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostNo he isn't. He's played 12 matches, 7 of them as a substitute and he's scored 5 goals. If he's their best player why has he only started 5 games?

he is a superb player but not a stone cold killer in the box, I remember a Madird derby 2 yrs ago when he missed 3/4 one on one chances with Casilles,he has a lot of movement and leads the line well. He would work well with say Van Nistelrooy or another goal poacher.Originally posted by dww View PostHe is very good and I'll be first to admit you have probably seen him more than I have but he has a less than 1 in 2 goals to game ratio which makes me dubious that he is as good as people say:

We will see how he does next seasonI think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

I have seen a few Atletico games this season and Aguero has been their best player. He is already better than Torres.
