    BBC response to Mackenzie complaints

Just received an email following my complaint to the BBC....

Thank you for contacting the BBC.

The Executive Editor of 'Question Time' has explained the thinking behind the
decision to include Kelvin MacKenzie as a panellist on the programme at the

Really don't think the reply even remotely addresses the legitimacy of McKenzie as a journalist.

He is the worst kind of revisionist, and how a serious political programme can think he adds anything other than an air of illegitimacy to the whole programme is beyond me.

I bet you that if the comments he made in that after dinner speech at that Newcastle law firm before Christmas had been of a racist nature, he'd have been sacked!

Saying what he did was ten times worse!
No! I am NOT in denial!

Bull****. They never got him on there to grill him over Hillsborough in the first place so his point about challenging him is irrelevant. Also, it's not that MacKenzie is 'controversial', it's that he is an obnoxious lying ****. Quite what the BBC hoped to gain by giving him this platform I don't know.

What about the family and friends of the people who lost loved ones at Hillsborough. The BBC are just giving him a platform to cause even more hurt. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Was he paid a fee? If he was then surely the money would be coming out of our pockets as TV licence holders. I find this nothing short of infuriating, personally.

No....I agree that we should let people like him on such programs. He was the editor of a daily paper (regardless of how crap).

I do not believe in banning people because you do not like their views. I think his performance on all issues on QT was abysmal. It simply showed what a pointless, ill-informed and obnoxious git that he is.

All people with dodgy views should be given as much light as possible...like slugs they wither and die

                  I agree with that bit.

It's not about banning people. Not everyone can go on the program, there is a selection process and he shouldn't have passed it. It should be evident to the BBC that a man with such a history of sensationalism and distorting truth would dumb down any panel they cared to put together.

It is not about agreeing with his opinions. These are not opinions. He is simply wrong. And anyone who looks at the matters sees that.
So he should never be on a show like this.

You have to go to Iran to discuss that "opinion".

It's fair enough having an opinion no one would argue that point however it's the lies that have been told by Mckenzie that have prompted the reactions against him. He should be made accountable for his actions but not on question time because by putting him on there the BBC are basically giving this man a soap box to shout from. If the man had any decency he would retract all of his lies and apologise. That would be the decent thing to do but as we all know that man doesn't have a single shred of decency in his body. He should not be allowed to continue his campaign of lies and should be muted by all of the press agencies in this country.

Some people seem to think the investigations into the matter came up with the wrong conclusion. Allowing him on a program like this simply fuels that "opinion"

i have left a comment below

"Liverpool fans dont want mackenzie banned for his opinions it is purely based on the fact that he printed what he believed to be facts at the time of Hillsborough. It has since been proven that these where not facts and where untrue and yet he refuses to apologise for slandering the dead and others present

It is not a matter of opinion its a matter of facts and his view has been proven to be incorrect. Though after all these years he will not apologise.

So its not about being facist or about us Reds not agreeing with him what he said was and is factually incorrect.

i watched and couldn't believe how smug he was and how much he enjoyed being challenged so he could repeat his vile lies. "

I think it says most things that i wanted it too.
