He has too many flaws to be a regular starter, misses too many chances and just keeping him on the bench as an option is tempting, but not 8-10 mill tempting.

Pennant I would give one more year, if then still not producing regularly or progressing well, sell.

    Excellent post.

Coruch is good enough only to be 3rd / 4th striker at best. He simply doesn't score enough goals consistently (a la Bellamy), and wstes chances with the most basic of headers time after time. We can on;y afford 1 of those sort of stikers in the squad. Unfortuantely we have 3 of them in the squad now which is why we've been struggling to score goals consistently up front until recently. For me we need 2-3 more strikers and keep Kuyt.

        I agree.

Against teams like Barcelona, Inter, Valencia....Crouch would probably only get a chance or two against teams like that and he usually need more than that to score.

Kuyt makes our other strikers look better than they really are IMO.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think he would get plenty of chances against those teams, they'd have a terrible time against him, especially Barca. Not only that his contribution to make space for others and to head the ball on and down is very good.

Why sell him? I mean we aren't a selling club, by all accounts we wont be short of cash, and he provides a good option for us that many teams can't handle, makes absolutely no sense to sell him.

I wouldn't sell Crouch, why should we. sure we need another striker in the summer but to enhance our strikeforce not replace one of them. Crocuh is a very valuable squad memebr, particularly away from home. what we need is an out & out goalscorer, then we'll have a very decent set of forwards, all with differing but valuable qualities.

As for Pennant, he is improving but still has it all to prove for me. Great goal yesterday but offered little else. just doesn't seem able to regularly beat his man, which a wide player must be able to do.

A lot of people were saying pennant was not good enough and was crap for birmingham and then everyone was saying how good he was a against bolton.

I watched most of brums games last season and imo pennant has not shown what he can do yet,Last season he was putting in two or three great crosses a game but this season his crossing has been very poor.

He has got the ability and hopefully his confidence is up now and he can show what he can do.
