Buying players for the reserves

I don't see the point of buying a player solely for the reserves. They either must be capable of getting into the first team now or have the potential to get into it in the future.

i believe he wants the reserves to play the same as the first team so if he wants a player to step up to the first team they will be used to the style.. for example playing with geordie brewer will get people ready for playing with crouch. doesnt mean all the people he buys for the reserves will be with a view to playing for the first team

you might be right about that but if he hangs around for 4 years the curent 17 year olds should be well on their way to compeating for a first team place. May be consitency of selection is the key?
