We haven't got the cash to buy anyone half decent....yet...

I still think FIFA will tell us we can have Mascherano....but it will be the 1st March before they bother to get round to it...!

I'm a little concerned though that we seem to be penny pinching again.

We have a wage structure fair enough but what about Young? Will we be kicking ourself when Young turns out to be a revelation for Villa and Bale at Spurs / Utd.

Will we always be looking to balance the books whilst others snap up the young talent from the UK.

We've let a fair few targets go because of money which I can understand from one side but on the other, we seem to still spend money and not always on better players.

I'm surprised that it's the 23rd January and we haven't signed anyone (I'm not including the young players who've signed as perhaps they will never play for the first team).

Rafa knows we need a right back and the loss of Garcia made me think he'd perhaps look for a similar type of player on loan.

All is quiet on the Mascherano front as well - god help us if Stevie or Xabi get injured.

That is not enough though is it?

Mascherano must be on his way.

Still 7 days to our next match, 8 days to the window closing, loads of time to conclude any deals, if indeed there are any to be done.

None of the big 4 are doing much business anyway, I'm not worried in the least if anyone does or does not sign, it's become too much of an obsession seeing everyone clamour for the next big signing.

Why is it not enough? It has been for most of the season and don't forget that Bolo is nearly close to a return...

                          summed it up.
Neil is a decent player nothing more nothing less, perfect back up material. Money was the motivating factor for him and that's his choice.

As for Young, none of the big boys went for him and the only other club to bid was West Ham who seem to be after everyone at the moment. 9.5mill is far too much for a so so player.

I don't think 8£ m is too high for Young. He is a top young player who can become big. Villa got a good deal because they don't have to pay the reminder of the deal unless he reaches certain amount of appearnces and such.
Why we did not bid for him is beyond me.

I said it in December H9 mate, we won't be signing any players(established) in January. It's proving that way so far. Either the purse is tight, or RAFA is happy with what hes got which I find hard to believe.

For some reason, most deals seem to go through on the last day or two...which always seems odd to me, given they've all had a month in which to do these deals, and 4 or 5 months to plan and prepare for the window.

My rather boring point is, we could feasibly be one of those clubs involved in last day deals...or certainly in the last week. I think we'll sign Mascherano, and probably late in the day. No point in getting all fed-up now cos we've not signed anyone yet.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
