I think we will be ok next week, although it is for Barca to chase the game I think we should hit them how we hit Juve in that first half At anfield. Juve didnt know what hit them

So, how do we play it -v- Barca?

What a great result for us in the first, amost beyond our wildest dreams (coming from behind to win the a right foot JAR goal!!!!!!!)
Now we dont have to push the game, but I think we should do and really hit Barca hard in the first half. If we can get an early goal then it should (touch wood) go smoothly.

      Any thoughts?

        Momo is a must!

He will help break up the Barca attacks and that should be enough to stop them scoring 2.

Attack is the best form of defence, we never do well when we're trying to hold onto a lead. Basically what I'm saying is we need to take the initiative.

One of my favourite sporting quotes is from Ritchie Benaud and that is :
"Always do what the opposition least want you to do". The last thing Barca want to do is defend, they want to spend 90+ minutes battering our goal, we need to press them back into their own half and impose ourselves.

In my humble blah blah blah.....

              ...............Reina
              ........Carra.Hyypia.Agger
              Finnan......Alonso.......Riise
              ..............Momo
              .............Gerrard
              ........Kuyt.......Bellamy

              A sort of a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-1-2 if you will

keeps us tight at the back and allows us to press high.

This is basically the formation of the second half in Istanbul.
So with Gerrard relatively free with Kuyt and Bellamy in front of him we are always very dangerous in attack.

We cannot afford to sit back. That's precisely what they want and what'll suit them. The weakest part of their game is defending, so like any true master of their art, we should attack the weak point in our opponent.

The fact that we're leading should give us the confidence to attack, safe in the knowledge that if we get caught out and go 0-1 down, we're still in the driving seat.

Of course, i'm not saying 'gung-ho' attack like the 2nd half vs Olympiakos, but we should play our normal game for home matches.

What's important is that we dictate tempo and keep possession. Doesnt have to be a fast tempo. Pass them off the park, keep it slow if need be. It'll frustrate them.

The more we have of the ball, the more anxious they'll get and when they get anxious, they'll make mistakes.

Whatever happens, I'm sure Rafa will have his tactics right. He's got Europe sewn up in terms of tactics

It could be dangerous playing to high with Eto back.

No offence intended mate, but i think if we went with that system, we'd be choosing our setup to try and negate them, rather than going with what's best for US.

                      4-4-2 for me.

Pepe, Finnan, Carra, Agger, Riise, Gerrard, Xabi, Momo, Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt.

Stevie on the right (yes, i know but needs must) and drifting in, Bellamy same on the left with his pace, Kuyt dropping slightly into the hole to link, and Crouch to make them nervous in the air, and to hold up the ball on the deck.

I agree. We can't sit back and defend, hoping to hit them on break. Maybe GH might have tried that but I dont believe Rafa will.

An early goal will do nicely. I hope we can keep the ball a bit more than we did at the Nou camp, especially the first half.

It is just so very important that they do not score first. We have to look out for their strengths and with Eto back and the lack of pace in our defence we can not play this like any other home game.

And with the formation I set up we have plenty of attacking play with Finnan and Riise overlapping and Gerrard behind Kuyt and Bellamy.

I´m not saying we should sit back and defend, we just have to look out for going to high. We have to stay disciplined.

I don't think any of the team will be complacent. They know the job is only half done. I'm more worried about us sitting too deep as the game goes on.

I just think it'd be wrong to allow THEM to dictate OUR team and system.

Pick a team that suits LFC, rather than one to negate Barca.
