I didn't realise it had been decided to name it "New Anfield", yet that's what the BBC site has called it......or have I been asleep for a few months/years and missed something???

Because a larger stadium would have cost almost double the amount

When the initial costings were done the 61,000 (which is the actual capacity of the new stadium) seater stadium was costed at £80 million, a 70,000 plus seater stadium was costed at £120 million

The huge gulf in the costs is because the council insisted that any larger stadium must have direct transport links which of course would have increased the costings

By the way I know your post was being ironic

Hope this is true Ronan. It was a drisgrace it wasn't granted in the first place.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Is it me or do both ends look the same size? Isn't the 'new kop' supposed to be bigger than the opposite end?
It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

thats what i'm dissapointed at, i wanted the new owners to perhaps change the plans to make it more like anfiled with 4 main stands packed in along the touchlines. this is what makes it a more intimidating atmosphere and gets the 12th man right on top of the opposition

I dont understand it myself either.
But It may have been a condition of planning, that its not to be extended in the future? Im not sure.

correct, which is why such a clause could be put in place.
It's still a strange one though.
