I've just watched it again on Football First ....and it is never a penalty.
The defender has his arms out, yes, but never uses it to impede Gerrard.
Gerrard was looking for that and was pleading as he was 'dropping' to the floor.

If it was a player for another club, I'd be calling them all the cheating ****ers under the sun.

Good play on Gerrard's part you can say but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

They do tongue scraper thingys now, that should do the trick.

I think it was a penalty. Glad ref gave it, there is lots shirt pulling and pushing that goes on in the box that is normally ignored by the Ref. The should give pens like that more often. That'd learn'em

Gerrard needs to cut it out

Posted a separate thread, because in essence, it's more of a 'bigger picture' point, than just about today.

But Gerrard's starting to develop a habit for going down easily in the box, and it's going to gain him an unwanted (and damaging) reputation, unless it stops soon.

If it carries on, he'll end up not being given legit pens, because his reputation will preceed him.

Look at the fourth and third angles, especially. No contact at all. Embarrassing.

I know this will go against the grain, and abuse me if it makes you feel better - but this is not on. If today's pen and the bolton one had been given against us, we'd be livid.

i dont understand the likes of you & others. Gerrard is not a diver or a cheat, he's our club captain, a player admired by many of his pears around the world & loves his club..yet you still find a way to slagg him off for something he did not do. How many times have you watched the peno incdent..ONCE at best i bet..go have a look again and watch closely..there was contact even if it was minimal, by law it's a peno

50/50.He can dive but that defender was all over him even before the Free was taken in the 1st peno claim.If you don`t want to give away a free/penalty don`t hug the opposing player,simple as.
