You're not meant to be allowed to shield the ball out for a goal kick like everyone does either - obstruction anyone?

If that was a pen today, then countless others should be being given. We'd literally be talking about 8 pens per match. That's daft.

You could say the same thing regarding common sense and Kozie.

Furthermore, was that contact sufficient to actually FORCE gerrard onto the floor? No.

He could've stayed up, the contact wasnt fall inducing. He CHOSE to go down though. That contact was minimal.

          Not a foul IMO.
the defender chose to apply that amonut of contact and forefeited a penalty. The Ref did what he had to do.

Message to all defenders, dont foul in the box, you`ll give away a penalty.

That's in the other thread. Apparently that's the distinction

No one doubts Stevie does, on occasion, go down easily,
              Not so sure that's true.

comparing him to the likes of Ronaldo & Dogbreath is ridiculous.
              Who did that?

There's a big difference between going down/making the most of minimal contact and blatant diving like those two regularly engage in, flinging themselves about/holding their faces/acting like they've been shot.
I think that if the contact isnt enough to bring you down, but you choose to go down anyway, that's wrong.

Let's burn me at the stake for saying that, eh?

If you actually look closely, Stevie stumbles after the guy's knee bumps into him, and the stupid *******'s got his arms all round him, so he deserved it IMO. And Stevie was clearly wound up so was more amenable to the idea of going down

Or defenders would have to learn how defend other than taking down the opposing player.

Not on its own, no. Hence why i posted a new thread, because it's about the 'bigger picture' of Gerrard possibly acquiring himself a reputation as a diver, and missing out on legitimate fouls because of it. As i did already explain.

TODAY's pen is one example, the Bolton one is another. One which is relevant in the context of THIS debate. And one which you're seemingly keen to side-step discussing...

                      shouldn't football technically be a non-contact sport?

Therefore any kind of contact resulting in a foul being given shouldn't be complained about

                        "taking down"

So Gerrard IS as fragile as a kitten then, and COULDNT keep himself on his feet, no matter how HARD he tried? Is that what you think?

Well you are allowed contact, but you actually have to win the ball first.

you just widened the discussion to back up you arguement that SG dives the odd time.I was discussing whether SG dived today.
