I think that we'd be looking to get Eto'o at around the £20-25m mark.

So, if Barca insisted on having Alonso to let Eto'o join us then I'd only go for a swap deal. I rate Eto'o as one of the best in the business and Alonso would be up there as well for the midfielders. Therefore, if Man U spent £18m on Carrick then I don't see why we can't insist on over £20m for Xabi.

A swap deal involving no money would do me! Saying that, I hope Xabi stays at LFC for many years yet!

Alonso, while a very good player, is overrated IMO. He is replaceable. There are plenty of players of his ilk out there. Eto'o less so.

Still I honestly believe we won't be signing another forward this summer. Voronin replacing Fowler will be the only change. I can see Rafa spending on other areas of the team, starting with Daniel Alves, a creative wide midfielder and a left back.

I think Rafa did most of his shopping in January.
As you say,Alves would be a target due to his versatility,something Rafa is always looking for.
A Right winger would also be on the list if Speedy doesn`t cut the mustard soon and Kewell doesn`t return to form.Apart from that Rafa IS putting a team together that can win the PL.If only he didn`t rotate so much at the start of the season we`d be up there now challenging.Hopefully he learned from our slumps at the start of the last two seasons and will play pretty much the same team for the 1st 6 games of next season giving us a platform to push The scums.
