Atletico powerless to stop Liverpool, Man Utd target Torres leaving
    tribalfooball.com - March 01, 2007

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo admits they'll have little say in the future of striker Fernando Torres.

Manchester United and Liverpool are chasing the Spain international, whose 26 million buyout clause can be afforded by both Premiership clubs.

"We do not want to sell Torres," said Cerezo. "But, at the end of the day, it will be he who decides. He knows very well what he must do.

"He feels and wants to be part of Atletico and it will be very difficult for him to leave."

Liverpool had scouts in the stands on Sunday to watch Torres score in their 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It does appear that we are still scouting a lot in Spain. Naturally, some would say.
It might even be true that we are keeping tabs on Torres.

I reckon there is more chance of signing Eto - he has already played for Madrid and now Barca, a move to another Spanish side would be a step down for him. I doubt he would go to Italy because there league is not so good these days.

If he leaves Barca I think he will go to the Prem and if he does that I think it will be to either us or the chavs
        Seems logical

Ive always been of the opinion that finances permitting, Rafa would go for Torres as he's a confirmed admirer and IMO he would do well in the Prem.

That was before the rumours flying around that Eto may be available.
Since then its a no-brainer, if he truly is leaving Barca then we have to do everything in our power to get him to come to us.
In terms of the type of player we need to truly compete with the top 2, he blows Torres and Villa out of the water IMO

Could Torres and Eto'o play together for us?

I like the look of that however it does mean 3 new strikers having to settle in. I suppose we could keep Crouch too, we don't need to sell.

I think Voronin has been bought to play in the Garcia role, someone mentioned that in a thread yesterday and i think its a good call.

That would mean that with Fowler off, we have one slot open.
I think Crouch will stay, Bellamy's future I have some doubt over tbh.

Eto and Torres is dreamland, and probably a bit too optimistic.
Whoever it maybe, they have to be a 20 goal a season, proven, top level striker, who can take us to the next level, nothing less will do.
If we dont. then i expect another season like this one.

If we think about buying 2 more strikers I would prefer one from abroad and one already Prem based.
For example : Eto'o and Bent
                      Any takers ?

Only 2 strikers I'd consider from the Prem who aren't part of the top 4 are Bent and Ashton. Not together though, there'd have to be someone like Torres, Eto'o, Villa, Huntelaar.

Both Ashton and Bent probably want to leave after this season. I can't imagine that they want to play championship football next season.

Owen is another option if he proves his fitness of course.

I wonder how much MSI want for Tevez?

Bent - not for me, think he's poor and not what we need, wouldnt put him ahead of any of our current crop.

For a Prem based striker - I like Ashton and Defoe but again, im not sure theyre better than what we have or what we need. Ditto Berbatov.

                              TEvez could become our Rooney.
I wouldnt mind Tevez playing for us.

I think Tevez will be back to South America next season.

Showed glimpses of what he can do but i dont think he'll cut the mustard in the prem.
