it was so predictable though.marmalised them all match .for them to score injury time,story of our season.

We need 2 clinical strikers imho. Not sure where a Diego etc. would fit in. If we played 4-4-2, you'd have to play Gerrard wide all the time, which I don't believe is his best position, and if we do get Alves he should play there.
Gerrard and Alonso / Momo / MAscher should be CM partnership.

But we despeartely need 2 more goalscoring strikers to play with Kuyt.

Rafa needs to keep it simple this summer.

Buy a goalscorer, a proven one.

Buy a couple of wide midfielders who can create and score.

Currently we lack goals from midfield, especially with Garcia out injured, apart from Gerrard nobody else scores with any kind of regularity.

In the league Gerrard has to play in the middle.

I am not concerned one bit after we played like that. We battered them but couldn't score ... What's the concern ? We put two past Chelsea but for a dubious refereeing decision (Bellamy goal) and a world class save by VDS, we should have won. A goalscorer wouldn't even have guaranteed we scored ... O'Shea isn't one.

It's very disappointing but it's not a major setback. It's just frustrating taking one step at a time - Rafa is learning, the team's improving but we're still short of some players and we're still not as good as Man Utd (or Chelsea).

I hope we really do have the money for improvements in the final third.

I agree with you with one exception. We need a decent back up goalscorer as well in case our top goalscorer gets injured. That's why we need 2. Bellamy , Fowler & Crouch aren't the answer. With Voronin as No.4, we still need 2 more, to play with Kuyt who will supplement a main source of goals.

I thought Kuyt had a decent game, but Bellamy was giving Vidic problems. I'd have taken Momo or Alonso (who had been booked) off, put Bellamy wide right and Crouch up top with Kuyt.
