That's an entirely different debate mate, one which I agree with you on - Pennant and Crouch should have come on much earlier IMO.

Point I'm making, which you seem to agree with (albeit putting a slightly negative slant on it) is that now our players have bed in we are playing very well - certainly well enough to beat any team.

No reason why we can't challenge next season. Rafa needs to make the right signings, but if he does this we will be there or there abouts.

The same situation that we were in this season really, it's just that his signing this season have not really worked out to their potential plus we had that horrendous fixture list at the start of the season.

Right now i think we are two years away from a title challenge, we need probably another 3 key players maybe 2 and even if we get them in this summer the team will have to adapt to incorparate their style.

BUT if we get a good early fixture run like the scum did this season we could build momentum and challenge next season.

I really believe the fixture list killed us earlier on in the season too many big games too soon and with signing 6 new players we just couldn't find any fluency to out game where as i have to take my hat off to Ferguson he signed Vidic and Evra in the Jan windo last season thus giving then half a season to fit into the team and with only one signing in the summer they found their rhythm quickly and the easy early fixture list ment confidence layed the foundation for their title win.

spot, lost all the big games early on and the gap just became too wide. We did have a chance of closing it (when we beat Chelski) but to do so required us to win every game until the end of the season and hope that Manure and Chavs dropped points.

LOL please one game doesn't change the big picture and i think we can beat anyone on our day but i was very disappointed to see Momo and Alonso in the centre at Anfield away would've been different but with those two playing through the centre when your going to be pressing(because your at home) your taking away attacking threat coming from deep.
