Sami's replacement = PSV's Alex + Hamstring Injury

I would rather we tried to convince Sami to stay on for a season than buy any defenders this summer. We have had enough upheaval in the squad of late and I really think that the defence and central midfield personnel are pretty well sorted.

Lets say Sami leaves this summer - Our 1st choice CBs will be Carra & Agger if one got injured we need a capable replacement who will go straight into the team.

I think Chelsea owe quite a few good players, just like Alcides at PSV

They are also after Costa at PSV

If we want a solid CB - we could do worse than either

a) Mertzelder - injury prone but on a Bosman
b) Woodgate - had been classer and relatively injury free - ?past
c) Micah Richards - Born to play CB - will be brillant soon
d) My choice - Pepe (Porto) - who kept Drogba in check (relatively) for the two legs

He IS a Chelsea player - he just can't get a work permit to play in the Premiership due to having never played for Brazil. Absolutely no chance of getting him.

I think Agger and Carragher are class

But we are one injury and suspension for Hyypia and Palleta (Perhaps Arebola)

Pepe is similar to Alex - a class player

To say Micah is a gamble to is to say, well its not true

He is a bit fat. I haven't seen enough of him really - though he was impressive against us. But then so was Luisao last season.
