Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I know it's jumping the gun, but thinking forward, this would mean that if chelsea win we would know when playing next day that we would face them in semi.

In terms of semis if utd and us get through, utd would play semi second leg knowing they would face us in final.

I think sometimes knowing/not knowing who you'll face, depending on how 2nd leg games land on tuesday/wednesday can be beneficial/detrimental.

Am I being clear/confusing on this issue?

Villa on the 18th (First choice eleven - try out Masher/Alonso in the middle)

Internationals on the 24th (lots of travelling for Stevie, Carra, Kuyt, Reina etc)

Arsenal on the 31st (Rest key players - play Fowler, Pennant, Sami, Gonzalez etc)

            PSV away on the 3rd
We could be scrapping for fourth place by then.

              No way.

We'll finish top four, no matter how much Rafa rotates the squad.

They usually play 433 in europe. That's a good thing as they end up with Rooney isolated on one or other of the wings. Go Roma!

I'm not saying we'll get through but should we happen to we have 2 mouth watering ties of great significance in the semis.

Chavs for obvious reasons or Valencia, again for obvious reasons.

I really, really hope that the chavs lose out to Valencia because I don't think my ticker would last another 180 minutes of CL semi final football against them.

Did you know that in around 15 seasons of United being in CL competition, they have never beaten any of Milan, Barca or Real Madrid? They've also never beaten Bayern, with the notable exception of the final in 99. Their record against the big guns is DIRE.
Haven't they won only 2 knockout ties since '99? One against Deportivo in 2002 and against Lille this season?

They are ****ing ****e in Europe, proved it this season in a walkover group and an easy 2nd round match. IF (big if) they get past Roma, they'll be ****ed by Milan/Bayern

They'd still lose the semi, everyone (who's a scouser) wins!
