    Phillipp Lahm ?

Was just chatting (via MSN) with a friend in Germany and he said that he heard a rumour that Liverpool are interested in Bayern/Germany left back Philipp Lahm. Apparently we have had him watched several times this season...anybody else heard anything ?
(Personally I would love us to sign him and I think LB is still a problem position for us...Riise still does not fully convince me. If he was available he would be very expensive but I think he is quality.)

Not really seen enough of him but he's impressed the few times I've seen him (World Cup and CL). We seem well stocked at left back, but maybe one could be shipped out. I don't think Riise is good enough either so personally I'd welcome it.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He is aye. Similar to Zambrotta insofar as him being as comfortable at left-back as he is at right-back.

Heh, every wide eyed Liverpool fan has been sticking Lahm in their wishlists and lo and behold, a transfer rumour!

Man Utd are finding it exceeding difficult to prise Owen Hargreaves away from Bayern and they are offering stupid money. Why do people think it's going to be easy to prise away a young, very talented German international from Bayern of all clubs?

I don't imagine anyone thinks it would be 'easy'.

Lahm offers a good attacking left back option, and also knows how to clean up in the 6 yard box at the same time. More German players at LFC I say. Let's get Klose and Schweinsteiger sorted.

As does Rafa, hence getting in Veronin as a buddy for "someone" who will be arriving in the summer.

                    Voronin isn't German.

I would assume he is a fluent German speaker, which is what I assume lfc4ever was getting at.

                        There's always one isn't there?

Just where has he played his football for the last few donkeys years?

I bet he speaks better German than the Germans!

He would have been Volksdeutsch after 1941.

German with a Ukraine accent is pretty intense. Sounds better than most Saxons though.
