Piefke indeed. Some of the best accents come from the north.
Once again "best" is purely subjective.
I was in Köln last week and felt like I was being aurally assaulted everytime someone spoke to me - the North of Germany's not so bad though, I s'pose.
Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

They do have a rough acent, but Koln 'ers are very nice people. One of my favourite cities in germany.
Compared with for example Munich, where the accent is in some ways nicer, but the population are generally up their own arse....
My GF said she found the Vienesse accent very "sing-songy"
That's not wholly inaccurate, and is a fair comment to make.
Unfortunately, many Germans are so arrogant that they do consider Austrian dialects to be "wrong German", rather than dialects in their own right.
But hey, Phillip Lahm is from Bayern, so - ipso facto - he's not German….
I guess we would also agree that our name is a good one
(although my spelling is better)
i disagree

Kölsch does sound like a cross between a dentist's patient talking during a filling, and a village idiot shouting down a 1920's phone.

Agree on both of those points.
Had a great time in Köln and met Campino and Andi from Die Toten Hosen who were also at the Barca game!
My GF loves Die Toten Hosen.
Lol, I think Edmund Stoiber doesn't help Bavaria's relationship with the rest of Germany.
I said it in the summer after the WC that RAFA should have a look at Lahm. The lad is quality, he is a focal point of Bayern Munichs attacks.
As long as they dont ask for silly money.
