    The french Darren Potter.
I still think he would have been a great one if handled differently by GH. If he had gotten games his attitude might not have stunk that bad.
He is right about a young player needing games.
    Shame it didn't work out.

He is still twice the player Potter will ever be.

I remember ALT's performance against Crewe in that pre-season friendly. To think I got so excited after that.

He passed the ball like Glenn Hoddle in his pomp. Pity we never saw that sort of form again.

In horse racing terms, he simply hasn't 'trained on'.

I remember that game against Crewe, some of the league games he got to play in, but not least his performances for the French U21 team. Pissed it all away... .Shame

Seems to possess the technical attributes at least. I am more concerned about the physicality of the league here, and his mental toughness. I do agree that he looks like a decent prospect.

In my eyes though, Ribery seems like he had to fight all his life to get what he wants. He gets kicked all over the place, but still jumps back up and wants to win the ball back or run past players again.
Any talented player can just about adjust to any league in the world if they really want to and put their mind to it. Look at C Ronaldo, the world's biggest bitch and pu$$y when he arrived in England, now he gets kicked and booed every match and is still destroying his opponents week in and week out.

English football, authorities and fans has traditinally been hostile and a distrust fof the flair player, but starting with Zola, Gazza and now C Ronaldo that type of player can succeed in the Prem. However to identify the RIGHT skill player for this League is a major task.

                              Agreed.
Very hard this, since skill players are usually knocked about and also quite soft.

I'm not sure that it's true any willing player can adapt. I think Morientes is a case in point, he always seemed very willing, obviously has the talent but it just didn't happen. Maybe it is true of younger players who are less set in their ways.

I think the important thing about Ronaldo has been that no matter how much he has bitched and moaned he has always got back up and gone at players again. It is that attitude that has eventually seen him succeed, along with the fact that he came when young enough to have several seasons to fully adapt to the PL.

I totally agree with you here. What I find interesting is when this became the case, looking back to the pre-1966 days when the prefered formation was the old WM it can't have been the case.
