your reading too much into that, its because bale has gone up the ranks with the Welsh team and Giggs has been in the full mens team since he was 17.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostYe he was quoted as saying how Giggs is his fave player and how much he loves playing with him

i thought he was ****e in both directions yesterday. He's normally alot better than that.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostBale looked **** defensively in that dirge fest at Croke Park yesterday. Good going forward mind.

Surely there is players of similar quality that are younger? At 28 a price of £10m would be a bit steep......... Lets say he takes one year to settle that would leave him at nearly 30 years of age and 3 seasons left in him at LFCs level.Originally posted by JohnOK View PostI hope to God we don't get Simao, don't rate him at all.Forwards.......

Where does this obsession with a players age come from? It's prevalent throughout football forums it seems. Especially this one.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostSurely there is players of similar quality that are younger? At 28 a price of £10m would be a bit steep......... If a new signing arrives and does the job, surely that's all that matters?
Isn't a footballers prime years considered to be between the ages of 24 to 30/31? So at 28 wouldn't Simao be in his prime?
For example if we bought Thierry Henry this summer for £15m, wouldn't everyone be happy that we had signed a top class forward, or would they moan that we'd spent £15m on a 30 year old?I hate Polanski

If we signed Henry for £15m then I would moan about that we have signed an injury prone player that is past his best.
Henry for £15m isn't a good deal. It would have been a fantastic signing two years ago but not anymore.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Completely agree. However age may have an effect on how quickly a player settles but that can go both ways. We need to buy the plahyers we need to challenge irrelevant of age.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostWhere does this obsession with a players age come from? Any signing represents a risk. If you don't think that the danger of his recent injury record is worth potentially having a genuine world class talent who is adapted to the PL for £15m then I think you would never buy anyone.Originally posted by AFII View PostIf we signed Henry for £15m then I would moan about that we have signed an injury prone player that is past his best.

I know that you are not serious in saying Simao is at Henrys level? Some players are worth the money...........Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostWhere does this obsession with a players age come from? It's prevalent throughout football forums it seems. Especially this one.

All I said was surely theres someone of a similar level thats younger. If there is, wouldnt you rather have the younger player, even if he was to cost £3m more?
I actually think we could get one for less than it would cost to get Simao, who was vastly over priced by Benfica.Forwards.......

Henry played 42 games for Arsenal three years ago and that probably means that he missed 10-15 games.
He also played 44 games last season and that means that he probably missed 10-15 games.
This season he has played in 27 games and that means that he probably will have missed 25-30 games.
So 45-60 games missed the last three seasons.
His goals/game this season has been below 0.5 goals/game for the first time since 2000-2001 season.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
