Is Gillett's name pronounced GHILL-itt (hard G, rhymes with 'kill it'), JILL-itt (soft G, rhymes with 'kill it'), jill-ETT (soft G, emphasis on the second syllable, like the razor/deodorant manufacturer) or what?
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Or like the sleeveless jacket known as a "Zyeelay" (with a French 'g' as in gendarme)?

                  Let's just call him George...

Sorry, that name has other associations for me.

Would you give equal emphasis to the two syllables of "gilet" (like the French do) or, since he's American, would you emphasise the second syllable (as Americans do when they pronounce French words because they wrongly seem to think it makes it sound more French)?
