I thought Kuyt did well to let Gerrard in for the goal, it was very unselfish of him, I do agree though about him lacking in confidence, when he first came to the club he was a real revelation around the goal, now he is a work horse.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

He certainly doesn't have pace to scare people and his first touch on occasions hasn't been anything to write home about. His crossing also left a bit to be desired when he did wander wide with the ball.

It just seems if he doesn't score than he's always written off as being useless. But i do think he is being given a role that will never get him the goals we were expecting from him. But as long as he is working as hard as he does and hopefully contributing rather than being a dead-weight in the side, than i'm more than happy to overlook his current first season goal record.

Exactly, but fortunatley for us, we actually took our chances this time.

As mentioned earlier, Crouchy must have built up his neck muscles during his Operation. I think he was Ogling the nurses walking past his bed every 5 mins?

Can't see it, TBH. PSV looked defeated and I can't see them being anywhere near motivated (or good enough) to make it close.

Actually, in a strange sort of way, this could be the making of Gonzalez. He really looked up for it tonight and had 2 decent efforts on goal from distance.
Arbeloa will fill in at LB away from home in the CL semi-final, with Riise in front of him; with Riise and Gonzo possibly on the left at home.

I'd love to see Gonzalez kick on from here.

I doubt Kewell will play at all in the CL this season.

One word: Clinical. I haven't felt that way about a Liverpool performance in a long time, but today, the goals came from everywhere and we finished our chances in clinical fashion.

On Kuyt: Interesting that most of our crosses have come from the right channel, which is where Kuyt usually fills the channel when Gerrard cuts inside. It changes when Pennant comes on, but Kuyt and Gerrard seem to have a nice understanding, be it covering the right wing (how many balls did Kuyt chase down in the right channel? Remember Cisse over there? Kuyt is much better...) or getting out of the way for the clear header. So, I feel Kuyt does a lot to push play to the right and takes himself out of a lot of scoring opportunities in the box by pushing out and covering. Its not like he's botched great service or whiffed on rebounds or that he's got the ball at his feet inside the box and touches it poorly to the keeper; He's simply not getting chances. I see that as a result of his commitment to positioning and support work which is currently allowing others to prosper.

I never said he was useless whatsover. I dont think anyone with a brain thinks hes useless - its just at the minute his value to the team is solely in his leg work. unfortunately this means he is rarely in the box threatening the goal. That may well be part of the plan. but either way, he just doesnt look like scoring. Sure he can turn it round.

Yeah, don't know where i dragged the word useless up from. I know what you mean about Kuyt though & i think you know what i mean about Kuyt.

It's just frustrating all round that he isn't getting to become that clinical finisher we had all seen on Youtube.
