Did we play that well tonight...

or were PSV just very poor?

I don't think we were particularly good and never really got out of 3rd gear, which shows just how comfortable we were......so although we did not play too well, it was an excellent performance
PSV were awful, and I think the lads and Rafa knew it would be an emphatic win without needing to do anything special.

OSV may have been missing a couple of their 'better' players, but some of our lads never turned up tonight (Xabi and Aurellio were both awful for the first hour).

We didn't need to play well, but we played well enough to win by 3.

I gave both Alonso and Aurelio 7/10. Thought they had very steady games.

PSV were clearly below par but, as with Arsenal on Saturday, I'm sick of people belittling our performance by going on about how **** the opposition were. It's not just a ****ing coincidence. One of the hallmarks of a Benitez team is making the opposition play poorly. Remember the CL encounters against Valencia?

      It's no coincidence.

A great performance. Solid, disciplined, patient and clinical.

I thought we played some excellent stuff. Once we went 2-0 up we knocked the ball about brilliantly, you could see we were very confident. Once it went 3-0 both teams played like the game was over.

They were but it shouldn't take away from our performance. Not jaw-droppingly brilliant or anything, obviously, but we were ruthlessly efficient

                  You're spot on Shaggy.

We firstly stop the other team from building any kind of momentum - then we start turning the screw.

It's Rafa's hallmark and it was beautifully illustrated tonight. It was a powerful, efficient, deliberate performance against inferior opposition.

OK, but it proves my point that we were very comfortable without playing brilliantly. Because we won so easily some people think we played amazing stuff......however whenever we seem to play exceptionally well we loose.

I agree, thought we played very well. bossed the game, passed it well and took our chances. Masher was superb. They are a reasonable team who we made look very poor.

We were 3/4 decent. I expect we will be even better @ anfield

Come on mate. This is the last 8 of europe. These kind of results in the quarters are unheard of. lets give the lads credit for workin their bollocks off when they had the ball and when they didnt have it

I thought we were **** in the first half despite going in 1-0 up. The second half we played much better though and could probably have scored more than the extra 2 goals if we had put our foot down.

3-0 was a great result though and as shaggy said it's no coincodence that teams have appeared to play poorly against us recently.

I have to congratulate the players for being so disciplined and compact. Having said that, PSV was so poor that even the bluenoses would be able to beat them tonight (and that's saying alot abt their quality!). Still, credit where credit is due, well done lads, well done Rafa for getting your selection spot on. Will not be so easy in the semis. I am hoping we get the Chavs, so Jose will have no excuse for beating them twice in a row in CL semis.
