Simao better than Alves !

I think Alves is the better player and has been phenomenal for Sevilla. His energy is boundless and has been the source of many goals for them, this season.
More the natural successor of Cafu than Cicinho. Imagine he was able to prolong his career like Cafu; we are talking 10-15 years, surely worth the investment.

I think I would too Scot.Originally posted by kurtangle01 View PostBoth platers can't be compared IMHO as they are both totally different. Simao is an attacker where as Alves is more of a wing back. Both players have different qualities but I doubt we'll sign either. I'd rather have Quaresma anyway.
Alves goes missing from his right back position quite a bit, I would have doubts about him adapting to the PL aswell, no doubting he has a reat football brain though.
Simao, well I kinda get the impression he isnt always interested in the match and can go missing, he has a great goal threat though.
Quaresma for me would be idea, has a great engine and seems to be agressive enough with some great ability, after all, the player we bring in will be played mostly as a right midfielder, not as fullback.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Quick question AFII seeing as you seem to watch Seville alot....Originally posted by AFII View PostSimao better than Alves
Alves is much better. I guess that you didn't watched Benfica vs Porto last week. Simao was rubbish in that game. No hard work, not one single dangerous attack, rubbish.
Alves isn't 100% fit but he played anyway because he is so important for Sevilla.
What type of right winger would Alves be? As in he doesn't strike me as someone who wil get the ball and take on defenders (like Lennon and Ronaldo) or do you think he is Finnans long term replacement? (if he signs of corse)

He plays on the right wing sometimes for Sevilla when Hinkel play.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostQuick question AFII seeing as you seem to watch Seville alot....

He takes on defenders/players all the time and that is a problem when he plays right back. He really doesn't play as a right back by the way, he is free to move all over the pitch just like Gerrard does very often for us.
Alves is one of the most complete players in the World. You can compere him to Stevie, same energy and hard worker. Not as good as Stevie, no one is.
He isn't good enough as a right back IMO and Rafa would probably not play him there.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The only slight reservation i have with us signing Alves as a right winger is that if he is that good why does Jesus Navas always start ahead of him on the right wing for Sevilla? We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

Alves is the best right sided player in La Liga and Navas the best right winger in La Liga.Originally posted by Gaz View PostThe only slight reservation i have with us signing Alves as a right winger is that if he is that good why does Jesus Navas always start ahead of him on the right wing for Sevilla?Just believe and you never know what will happen.

They also need his energy and hard work. He probably works as hard as Momo do for us.Originally posted by Gaz View PostThe only slight reservation i have with us signing Alves as a right winger is that if he is that good why does Jesus Navas always start ahead of him on the right wing for Sevilla?Just believe and you never know what will happen.
