Thanjk you.

No I think that he is best suited to the RB area. In the above formation having two holding midfielders should allow both fullbacks extra attacking freedom. In that system I would like to see both the two wide attacking midfield players offering a direct goal threat. I have no doubt Alves could play in that position but for me it would only ever be a temporary move.

I'd be hesistant to play Alves at RB. He is someone who likes to be where the action is and naturally gravitates towards the ball. At Sevilla he is afforded a lot of freedom in that position with his teammates covering for him when needed - similar to when Gerrard plays on the right for us.

...........Reina
Carra...A N Other...Agger
.....Mascher.Alonso
Alves....Gerrard....Riise
........Kuyt...A N Other
Riise and Alves would be made for the wingback positions. And it allows us to play SG in the middle and avoids us having to play 1 striker on their own.

Surely that would be the reason to play both Mascerano and Alonso, to allow other players more freedom?

From what people say if he adapted he would be great but I haven't seen much of him and his spell at Barca may hint that he doesn't have the mentality for a big team. However he was younger then, maybe he just needed time.

I would still prefer Shaun my self. Ha was great in their last game.
