If Crouch could head the ball like Alan Shearer, he'd be absolutely unplayable, and probably the best striker in the world.

Still a fine player though... I doubt there's a club in the world that wouldn't have him in their squad.

        Hipshaker,

        Welcome to the site.

Just so you know, if people insult you it's probably safe to assume they've got you confused with someone else.

        Deja Vu!

If crouch had scored the goals in 3 different games then the 124.2 mins stated above would be correct, by scoring them in one game surely the 124.2 is wrong in that it would be higher? e.g. if you take the goals vs Arsenal away (I've also calculated he only played 80mins) then his goals to game ration would be 143.71

But hey stats can be twisted. My other arguments on Peter Crouch are listed above.
            We come not to play.

but if your going to do that to Crouch, you have to take away all goals when Drogba etc have scored more than once in one game

The number of goals he scored is a fixed number. The number of minutes he has played is also a fixed number. Dividing the second number by the first will always give the same number (124.2). Maybe I'm misinterpreting your reasoning.

                500th post! Woohoo

That makes no sense at all

The stat is goals per minute played, it doesn't matter whether all the goals come in one match or spread over the lot of them. Not for Crouch or any other player.

                    By definition:
Goals per games = Total goals divided by total games
Goals per minutes = Total goals divided by total minutes

It makes no difference when the goals are scored. Honestly, it's simple maths, you're over complicating something that doesn't make sense to complicate.

Frodo, sounds to me like you are after a % of games scored in having started stat...

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
