It's simple. Jol doesn't rate Lee, who is decent going forward but not great defensively. The French lad, Esso-Kotto(sp?) is pretty much the same, which you should remember from the way Gerrard RAPED him when he faced him.

Whilst the pressure to achieve has increased at White Hart Lane in the past couple of years due to their improving team, the levels of expectation are still nowhere near those of the Top 4. They can afford to buy good potential and wait a year or two for them to fully mature - it's been their policy (see: Lennon, Dawson et al).

Bale is decent now, he's got some International experience and the potential is there. You can't compare him to the likes of Riise, Evra and Heinze yet though. He'd easily walk into that Spurs side and have the opportunity and time to progress.

Bale is the better 'footballer' but Riise is the stronger athlete and is probably the better player at the moment.

Bale will only get better though and could become the best British left lack in the Premiership once he's had the experience of playing in the league for a couple of seasons.

It depends on where Rafa feels as though we need to strengthen though. He might feel as though we are strong enough at left back with Riise, Aurelio and Agger in the first team squad. We've also got Insua making a name for himself in the reserves - he's highly rated and is younger than Bale.

I agree. And also I dont know how good he is.

I would like to think though that we have enough financial clout now to pay 3m up front and the rest in the next few years without it interfering with other transfers this summer. If he is as good as some say, that is.
