Aye, for the right price. Say £8-£10m. To replace Bellers, but NOT to be the number 1 striker we are after. Forget Voronin for the mo (if only). Crouch, Kuyt, Owen plus Star Striker would be a great stiker force. Also commericially it would be a great move.
But we wouldnt get him for that price & I very much doubt Rafa would be interested.
If we get him at a reasonable price then yes. He was one of (if not the) most prolific strikers in the last decade and if he was anywhere near his past form, he would improve our strike force.
He would score more than Fowler and Kuyt do, Gerrard knows how to play him in, the only worry would be injuries and lack of pace - the latter being his most important asset historically.
Not too happy about the way he left/could have come back before going to the barcodes - however if the price was right and Rafa wanted him, then yes.
Edit - would also think he could link up well with Crouchie.
no, not ever again. He's not eventhe player he was 2 yrs ago, let alone a threat. Injury prone, lost his pace, wouldnt suit our style of play and has nothing else left to offer to compensate.
Sorry mate but got to disagree there, the two main ponts you have are that owen isnt a threat and wouldnt suit our style of playing.
Pre-injury he had an excellent goalscoring record for Newcastle, and you cant say he wouldnt suit our style of play, playing for a team that played some nice football his record for Madrid was also excellent. He has always been injury prone but has still had a good scoring record.
I said yes, he would be a good signing, based on points made earlier, he would be there on Rafa's terms, he would be part of a rotation system (which protects him), we are in desperate need of someone who can get the poachers goals. Bellamy hasnt done that in terms of scoring.
We play much better football which should allow us to play to Owen's strengths on the deck rather than hoofing balls over CB's and relying on heskey flick ons, which we used to do under Houllier. His key movements can be restricted to a smaller area of the pitch as a result instead of having to run with the ball so much.
Its a little tiring the keep on hearing he shafted us because most dont know the true facts, its mostly hearsay. So people believe what they want to. He is a top quality player and we should be looking to sign them, if we want to improve our squad.
Quit your jibber jabber!!!
Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

He left us when we where getting a new manager, for a very low fee at to young an age.
Owen stalled on signing a new contract for ages and decided to leave Liverpool to experience something new. He made his bed and now he can lye in it. He has been far too injury prone of late and his last season with us was not a memorable one.
I was told about 3 weeks ago that he is Old Trafford bound this summer and the newspaper reports today seem to confirm that there is some element of truth to those rumours.
I saw those reports in the People. Therefore it's not true.
Haha. Probably not Nic. It's very rare for me to come out with these 'a mate of a mate's budgie told me' but this came from a first team regular and does seem a bit too much of a coincidence.
