Was class but in recent months has lacked the sharpness he had. Remember he came from the Dutch league which isn't as physically demanding and I think that's over the course of the season taken its toll in Dirk. But he's a valuable player. No question about that.
I think we should give Kuyt some time (like one more season) and then judge him. He started superbly and his best match was v. Reading at home. He was a real menace. And as a footie player he too has some positives and negatives.
+: His shots are powerful and is a sweet striker of the ball, skillful with the ball although sometimes his first touch lets him down,
-: He is slow (I think he is just quicker than Crouchy).
Kuyt would score lots of goals if he would play upfront all the time. But Rafa's tactics do not allow him to play there as he plays somewhere in the middle between the midfield and attack all the time.
The story is the same as Cissé's. Give him a proper run in his favourite position and he'll deliver goods. He can't score goals if he's running with the ball somewhere around the middle of the park with 2 or 3 people covering him.
Anyways, I think we'll see the real Kuyt next season!
