    Rafa turns down Madrid

Rafael Benitez has put aside his daughter's growing Scouse accent and "a good offer" from an unknown club to stay on at Anfield.

The Spaniard brought unexpected European glory days back to the club in 2005 when he led the Reds to the Champions League title, and has repeated much of that feat in 2007 by leading them to at least the semi-finals of the same competition.

That's all pleasing for joint owner Tom Hicks, and Benitez has now admitted that the American is right about one thing - that he and his family are happy in Liverpool at the moment.

"I don't like to talk about my family, but they are really happy here," he said.

"The Scouse accent of my daughter is a problem for me, but we are really pleased to be here.
    "

The only thing I want to say is I said no to a good offer, a good team, because we are happy.

"It's not a question of money or other things - it's a project with my team, with my club and also the fans, the supporters behind us," he added to SkySports News.

That news is sure to both worry and relieve fans at the same time, especially given the recurring links with Real Madrid in Benitez' native Spain.

Will Rafa ever grasp the Scouse accent ?

Not for me it doesn't, I cant see him leaving for a while yet unless if he doesn't deliver on the pitch which I have faith in him to do.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

honestly, if he had left there's maybe only a couple of people who could have replaced him.

We don't talk about Rafa leaving. It's a big no no.

Rafa Benitez has revealed he has turned down 'a good offer' to quit Liverpool.

The Spanish coach has proved a major hit at Anfield and is perceived as integral to the club's future success.

New joint owner Tom Hicks has claimed that Benitez would be staying on Merseyside because his family do not want to leave the city.

While Benitez was reluctant to bring his family into the issue, he acknowledged his family are happy and that he had declined the opportunity to join another club.

He refused to identify the club, with Real Madrid having been linked with his services, and insists there is no reason to end his three-year association with The Reds.

"You know my idea, I don't like to talk about my family, but they are really happy here," said Benitez on Sky Sports News.

"The Scouse accent of my daughter is a problem for me, but we are really pleased to be here.

"The only thing I want to say is I said no to a good a offer, a good team, because we are happy.

"We're really pleased and really happy here for all these things together."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
