true, Dudek looked awesome at first. But after the 2002 World Cup it all went to pot for him.

Hopefully Reina is mentally stronger than Dudek.

        why?

Last season we conceded 25 goals and this season will be around the same.

The last time a Liverpool side did better defensively was in 87/88.

Reina hopefully still has at least 10 years left in his career.

I think he is one of Rafa's best signings.

I've been very impressed with Reina since he joined us.

He was young for a keeper when he arrived and has settled quickly into a new league and country. He's vocal, a good sweeper and makes the crucial saves when called upon even when he's had nothing to do all game.

Yes, he did have a dodgy spell at the start of the season but he's come through that to reproduce the form of last season. He should be our keeper for years to come, but it will be interesting to see what Rafa does with Carson next season and beyond.

But in Reina we have a keeper that should be our number one for the next decade should his form continue.

I don't think he is ****, just sometimes he doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence on corners/ set pieces. I find his positioning a bit suspect at time. He seems to have gained better concentration as the season has progressed. As for the stats regarding clean sheets etc, some credit has to go to the defence and the holding midfielders we deploy. Here's to no goals conceded for the rest of the season.

Our best keeper since Clemence IMHO

Amaizes me the way people criticise our defending at corners and set peices when we hardly ever concede goals that way. Every time I see us play we are clearly so well drilled and organized in this area that the occasional abhoration sticks out like a sore thumb, and Pepe is no small part of that. Every keeper is prone to the odd flap but he does it less than once a game on average, which is better than just about everyone else. He also sweeps up behind the defence incredibly well and has superb distribution. When pundits or even fans slate him it really puzzles me I must say

A great buy, and our keeper for many years to come I hope.

I think the best compliment to Reina and our defense as a unit it the amount of saves he doesn't have to make, if you get what I mean. He's not called upon to make many saves because he's so good a sweeping up at the back, collecting the ball from corners etc and his distribution is also very good. I really rate his as a top goalkeeper and an excellent shot stopper.

On another note I really rate Carson too, his distribution very, very good. Unfortunately by all accounts (and hearing an interview with him) he's a bit thick.

exactly, i think he's one of the best in the league rushing out if not the best, he comes out frequently and rarely misses the ball, he does however play on the edge. and people talk constantly about how lucky he got. you don't get lucky that often. he's simply that good.

i agree, you can spot the difference in the defense when he's not playing, put the dude in the goal and suddenly he has more shots to stop. reina is one of the key players in our defense. and i honestly don't think we can find a keeper as good in the world at his age, and he's only going to get better.

Out of those 65 goals conceeded, he's been at fault for about 6-8.

He's a good keeper, with massive potential.

                              I'm happy with Reina.

                                Indeed

His record really speaks for itself, and for me the massive difference between him and say, Dudek, has been that Reina has recovered from several slighty dicky spells to come back strongly. You can always tell how good a keeper is from how the defenders in front of him behave, and our lads seem 100% confident in him - which is enough for me.
