Paletta and Fowler aside there is some good players in there, and Fowler when fit can still put chances away.

I new the game was up for Paletta though when he was mauled by Aliadiere, he was ****ing useless.

Lucas Plessis (arguably Alonso as Plessis is still a reserve player) Pennant Bennayoon
Voronin Crouch

That's actually quite an improvement.... and 4-5 of those will be replaced presumably with better players...

Instead of worst team, if you think of "back-up" team. Then we've probably got at the moment (in a 4-2-3-1)

Itandje (****e), Riise, Agger, Hyppia, Finnan, Lucas, Plessis, Kewell, Benayoun, Pennant, Crouch.

In a 4-4-2

Itandje (****e), Riise, Agger, Hyppia, Finnan, Benayoun, Lucas, Mascherano (only because Gerrard and Alonso tend to get the nod if we ever play big games in a 4-4-2, but you could put Alonso here instead if you want), Pennant, Crouch, Voronin.

Apart from Itandje, I'd say the squad has moved on a great deal over the last two years. Less major restructuring needed over the summer, more minor tweaking with the addition of a couple of world class players (plus replacing those such as Kewell and Crouch who definitely want to leave).
