there are cheapish flights from London - cheap as in around £300. But flights take 13 hours each was and need to connect in Gemrnay sigh

Get a flight to Zakynthos and then catch the ferry to the mainland and then a 3 hour bus ride. There are only two flights a day from Zak to Ath in the summer and there is probably only one flight a day in MayComment
