Jewell's got a very valid point. I don't blame Rafa for the team he picked but equally, I don't blame Jewell for being pissed off about it. Lets face it, the team we played against Fulham was a shocker. There's no way a full strength 11 would have been beaten & Fulham picked up 3 more points than they probably would have done.

imagine the stink on here if we were going for the title & say Wigan rested a load of players against our title rivals. Those telling jewell to eff off would be up in arms.

If i recall, many were up in arms when Harry Redknapp said he was thinking about resting players against the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea because he didn't feel they could win.

I don't give a sh!t about any other premiership club apart from the mighty LFC. I would rather win no. 6 and be hated by all the small poxy clubs in England than lose in the final and be loved by rugny league clubs like Wigan.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell has hit out at Liverpool for fielding an under-strength side against Fulham.

Fulham boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 win over the UEFA Champions League finalists on Saturday.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez made nine changes to his side for the game at Craven Cottage and the decision left Jewell seething as Fulham climbed further clear of his own Wigan side in the battle to avoid relegation

"What happens to Wigan is of no concern to Liverpool, but for the good of the game, its integrity, resting nine players can't be right," Jewell told The S*n.

"What if Sheffield United had won at Aston Villa and decided to play a reserve team against us next week? It's the same scenario.

"If Neil Warnock announced he was going to rest nine regulars there would be absolute murder.

"We are not down in this position because of Fulham or because of the situation at West Ham or because Liverpool have rested nine players, but events have conspired against us."

A lot of differing views over this over the weekend, but for me they got themselves in the position if we want to rest 9 players then that's up to us, the 11 out there were capable of winning so it's not as if we threw the game

Yup, the players we brought in were prob good enough to get a game at most clubs below us, it's just that Fulham wanted it more on the day, and rightly so seeing what was at stake, even our strongest team had nothing to play for and the result might have been the same anyway.

When you look at our midfield and attack, that team should have been good enough to beat Fulham. It was a weakened team, but Gonzales Momo Xabi & Pennant, behind Bellamy & Fowler, is not exactly the youth team. We should have done better.

Liverpool did enough to win on saturday. If the chances we had created ended in the net would he be moaning about us fielding a supposed lesser side? No, would he balls. Fact is, he has had 37 games to not be in the bottom 3 so I cant see how the reason they are there is because Fulham beat us 1-0. Face facts. Wigan are **** and if they are in the bottom 3 they are there for a reason, not because of a game in which 2 other teams played.

Also, how funny was it on the highlights of Wigans game. The Boro player spoons the freekick and all the pie eaters laugh etc then before they have finished mocking, the ball is in their net. and stay down.
