There was a "playing a promoted team away on the first day of the season is a hard game" excuse or two doing the rounds. Comparisons to Chelsea Wigan last year also made. I was just implying that we should not use excuses if Boro can go 2 up away to reading who romped the 1st division last year.

Again I just said we shouldn't be using excuses...............Middlesborough are a bottom half team whereas we are title contenders so I made a poor comparison there

As I said " no one was using excuses." People were merely stating facts. I bet you feel like a right idiot now though mate, eh? Moaning that we can't beat Sheffield United at Brammall Lane where as Boro' can go 2-0 up against Reading at the Madjeski after Reading walked The Championship last year!

Today was always going to be tough but in the end we didnt have enough. Warnock was always going to have them more up for it than we were. We only come alive once they scored and had we been able to make our changes then we wouldve gone on to win. Its a bummer didnt win but we'll be ok.

I feel the same, I think we cocked up today. I thought we had a nice easy start to the season facing Sheffield because I thought we had the talent to deal with them no problem and we didn't.

If you compared todays performance with that of Sunday's there was no comparison. It was as if we were playing one of those crappy pre-season friendlies where the game didn't really matter and neither did the result.

I am sorry that we didn't field our strongest possible team, because if we had we probably would have won. We would have got off to a convincing start in the Prem and have the psychologial boost from 3 points on the table.
