its only his opinion IMHO, Rafa is hardly going to brief the Echo on what his transfer plans are. He has enough work to be doing with the club as it is.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Bent is going to Tottenham where he will score goals and do well, but he won't be under the same pressure he would be here at Anfield. I'd cry if we got him.

Think people take what Bascombe says way to seriously.

When he does a big article like "Liverpool after Bent" then yeah take it seriously but he always puts little bits like that in match reports and for me they're just space fillers/stating the obvious

Bascombe's style is to throw snippets like that, and I'd have a fair guess as him knowing that Bent is on Rafa's shortlist.

A striker who's got a very good record in the Premiership since playing in it, he probably is. That doesnt make it nailed on that we'll even enquire about him though let alone, bid or get him.

And Bent has been a little boy lost on international duty even in training.

Never intimated that he was nailed on mate, but he's under consideration certainly !

I'm not saying Darren Bent is top of my list but that was a fooking superb finish yesterday, excellent techique.

So you're saying Darren Bent is top of your list?

Owen for £9m or Bent for £12m?

A lot of you would say neither, but if push came to shove who would you take? At the very least both are proven in the Premiership.

32 games and 14 goals in the prem for Darren Bent. Not too bad to say he was a marked man and the only one who offered a threat for Charlton. Plus he played quite a few games whilst not at full fitness due to an injury around January.

                            We all know about Owen.
                            Forwards.......

It really depends on who else we sign. With two good wingers in the team Bent. Without Owen.

We need to score in tight games and Owen has the class to do it. However over the season with good service I think that Bent would play more games and get more goals, he would also be better at setting up play for others.

I would be happy to sign Bent IF we sign another top striker too. Not sure he could be our main striker signing this summer if we are to challenge.
