We need an extremely mobile and clinical striker.. I know obvious........ Someone who scares opposition defenders when they see the team sheet with a higher shots to goal ratio than what weve become accustomed to over the last few years... I understand completely that we need to score more from midfield but this problem is only highlighted by the fact we dont have that striker. Im fully aware that Rafa won many trophies at valencia and with us without an out an out striker but has anyone team won the league in the last
decade without a big game striker???Henry, Drogba, RvN Im afraid to say the last WORLD CLASS( at the time) striker we had was OWEN.... He was prolific...Now dont start jumping at me for bringing him up its true. Im not suggesting we try get him not at all (He's found his current level )

Look ill finish with this our back 5 and centre of the park pair is their many better in Europe I doubt it.... so weve a techniquely excellent young core

We need a finisher more than anything else. Our goals to shot ratio is 10%. That's way below anyone else. If we could raise that to 15% we would have as many goals as Man Utd and probably as many points as well

I got it from Opta on skysports. I don't have a link though. I then did a spreadsheet extrapolating goals scored based on that %

Someone who understands the Skysports site better than me can probably point you in the right direction. Actually, thinking about it, maybe it was from the match preview from Fulham.

I would argue that now you need a good attacking trio or quartet to challenge for the league. When Chelsea won they had Cole, Duff and Robben suplimenting Drogba (not to forget Crespo). This season Man United had Scholes, Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo and which ever forward was fit on any given week. We need to get a similar set of players, not just pray that one great forward will come and solve all our problems.
