Lucas Neill is a fine player who is unfortunate to be playing in the wrong era. He tackles like a certain Mr Souness used to. Good, hard & often over the top. I'd welcome him to Anfield but I doubt he'd settle for being a back up. Some of your sentiments in this thread are rather poor to say the least. Its just not cricket.

as an aussie i would love for Lucas to play for Liverpool....it means more games on telly for us

but theres something inside of me saying NO!, that tackle on Carra was atrocious! Shameful even.

He is a decent player though, he had a cracking WC for us, apart from THAT penalty he didnt put a foot wrong.

        I agree harvey.
I would always associate Neill with THAT tackle on Carra and it probably is a shame coz i think he is actually a descent player and in Germany he was very good imo for the Aussies.

          Lucas Neil Anfield Bound?

I've heard a rumour that Lucas Neil was at Anfield yesterday sorting the details of a deal to be signed tomorrow and official sign tomorrow. This seems a pretty random signing to me, but hey - who am I to question the Rafalution part II? Anyone heard similar?

Yes there was a thread a while back. He was vilified as being a thug - Lucas, not Rafa!

Don't think there's much weight behind this, however Dunk has mentioned it i believe. So there is in the literal sense

Dunk probably got the info off this sites original thread!!
As for Lucas Neil Not sure about this one if true, obvioulsy after his tackle on Carra a few seasons back he may not be the most welcome of players but i can't comment on his suitability to play for the reds as i've not seen too much of him.

A few great games, followed by several bollox ones, topped off with some yellows and the odd red.

Not what you want as part of a consistent back 4.

I will take your word Shanks, can't say it's a transfer that's got me on the edge of my seat. Could still turn out to be complete ****e anyway.

I actually thought he looked pretty consistant last season. I don't like him though and he is a card magnet.

More than any player who has been linked with (or signed for) us in the last ten or fifteen years, I don't want Lucas Neill. Really don't want him.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

You're quite right to do that mate

Don't ask an Aussie about him though, cos they all reckon he's God's gift, just like thr Welsh with Bellers and the Irish with Finnan

                            Socceroos

Hope he signs. Will be be a better option than Paletta or Agger at the back and will provide some cover for the right. He won't cost much but is proven in the Premiership. I can think of better right-sighted defenders but none that we can realistically sign for a good price.

How old is Finnan? Approaching 31? Rafa might be thinking that Neil could go on to replace Finnan and then we bring in Alves next season to complete the picture for the right side - an out and out winger in Pennant, a solid defender in Neil, a reliable veteran in Finnan, and hopefully Alves who will bring something completely different again.

Having said that though, would I do a straight swap between Neil and Finnan??? I dunno, probably not, so Neil would really be a squad player providing cover for Hyppia and Finnan when required.

I think we should sign David Healy - his international record is proven and he wouldn't cost that much

He would have to go some to oust Finnan from the team anyway as for me he's one of our most consistant players.
