Berbatov - the most complete striker?

I agree - approx 1 in 2 goals per game ratio is not very prolific at all.Originally posted by DJS View PostYeah, and if he was a prolific goalscorer, it'd be great. Sadly he isnt.
And dont give me '22 goals this season', the UFAILED Cup doesnt count for much...
Sofia 50 (25)
Leverkusen 152 (68)
Spurs 22 goals in ?? 45 odd appearances?
National team
1999– Bulgaria 44 (31)

Most definitely. They are far superior to ours at puttin the ball in the back of the net.
I'd like to keep Crouch though.

I wouldn't marry up a striker that wasn't prolific with another one that was arguably the same. Torres and Berbatov couldn't play together in my opinion.Originally posted by Nic83 View PostImagine a strikeforce of Berbatov and Torres with Dirk and Crouchy waiting in the wings
I'd play him with a nippy striker that has a record of banging in goals for fun that doesn't have the second name, "Owen"....

Bulgarian and german league....mediocre.
22 goals this season...about 7 in the UEFA cup....what is it, 12 in the premiership?
How's that better than Kuyt or Crouch?

If you compare their chances converted to chances missed ratio, i think we'd see who the better finisher was.Originally posted by DJS View PostBulgarian and german league....mediocre.

And I hate this argument about the league they were playing in. Remember the goals don't move and you can only score from chances that are created.
But if you want to use it, look at his international record.

But it's a valid point. Defenders in inferior leagues are inferior....Originally posted by Nic83 View PostIf you compare their chances converted to chances missed ratio, i think we'd see who the better finisher was.

Yeah but so are his attacking teammates, therefore he won't get any more chances thatn he would playing for a better team in a better league and it's the chance conversion rate that says everything you need to know about a strikers finishing ability.

You cant seriously be telling me that scoring goals in the bulgarian/german league is equivalent to doing so in the premiership?

International records can be dodgy... Crouch scored a hat-trick against Jamaica... I'd be ****ing devastated if i only scored three goals in that game!Originally posted by Nic83 View PostBut if you want to use it, look at his international record.

No, and most certainly not for a team like Spurs but what I'm saying is I think you're putting a little too much emphasis on the fact that his goals weren't scored in Spain, Italy or England.
