I agree that Masher has hit a purple patch, however, you could argue he is eclipsing everyone in our team at the moment. We need Alonso, not least because we shouldn't break the squad up needlessly as it will just cause disruption and mean there will be yet another bedding in period

In a top team anyone can be moved on. I think Xabi is a great player and I want him to stay.

The reality is though that if he can help bring in someone like Eto´o or Kaka and Rafa has a replacement for Xabi so that our midfield is still as strong then he is off. And our team is stronger.

That is the reality for any footballer in the world.

He is only approaching his prime at 26. he will boss next year. Genius on his day and arguably Rafa's best signing yet.
