I have said for a while that creative goalscoring midfielders should be our priority.

Although I would question what counted as a striker for Man United. Either way we need to get more goals from other players than the strikers.

It would be interesting to see how often our strikers have scored against the top teams though. Which is really what we need to improve - goals against the best defences.

It's not surprising, we've got **** wide players, defensive minded CMs and Gerrard hasn't scored so many this season.

The likes or Kaka, Tevez, Lil Luis(on form) and that kind of player is what id love to see, of course we had one of the best of his generation Jari Litmanen but oh how he was wasted

That stat, if true, is quiet surprising, but I think its obvious that one of our main problems is the lack of goals from midfield particularly. Alonso, Pennant, Mascherano, Sissoko, Gonzalez, Zenden, Kewell - All arent regular goal scorers.

Our only regular scorers from midfield are Gerrard and Garcia.

If you compare that to Man Ure and Chel$ki they unfortunately hammer us in that department.

Hopefully we can right that wrong in the summer but regardless we still need to be looking to improve the quality of the stirkers we currently have at the club.

Our strikers have come under massive scrutiny on this website but in my opinion Kuyt & Crouch will only get better. Kuyt scored 13 goals in his first season in the toughest league in the world. If he carries on like that I have no doubt he will hit the 20 goal mark next season. The lad is class.
Crouchy same story. His best season so far of his career and thanks to Rafa he will learn more and improve. Bellamy is the only obvious dissapointment for me. The guy is not a goalscorer, his record is more like an attacking midfielder. Having said that he does have the ability to unlock defences with his speed and diagonal runs that when he does not get caught offside 5 times a match.
Overall, I think we only need 1 more striker. Eto'o or Villa will do for me. One of those two can hit the 20-30 goal mark with ease.
As for the rest of the team chippin' in, well i think if we can get 2 wingers who can actually score 7-10 goals each then the burden will be off Gerrard to provide goals from midfield. Alonso & Mascherano & Sissoko will do well to get 5 goal inbetween them in any season.
