Alonso too has gone off the boil alarmingly of late.
    WUM...

    That's enough for me.

      ----------------------------------Cech---------------------------------

      Neville------------Carhvalo(Spelling)---------Ferdinand--------------Evra

      Gerrard------------Scholes-------------Cesc-------------------Ronaldo

      ------------------Drogba-------------------Henry----------------------

And even then your leaving out the likes of Essien, Terry, Lampard, Cole Rooney and Robben.

sorry that is bull****, finnan is the best right fullback in the league.
Carra although I love him, isn't as good as either United's or Chelsea's centre back pairing.
How can one player be as good as a centre back pairing? each player has different attributes Cara is good at closing the last man and making timely interceptions, but isnt the greatest footballer in the world technically. But still is invaluable, more so than any other centre back in the league to Liverpool cause, if we had JT in our defence, he woudnt have the impact of Carra.
Reina is a great shot stopper and quick off his line but Christ he flaps at everything. And had an awful start to the season.
Thats fair enough I guess, he has improved tremendously as the season has progressed though.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Rafa has set up a team that is very hard to break down away from home, plays with 11 men behind the ball and doesn't concede many on the road.

This style perfectly suits cup comps(hence our success) but comes apart when you have to be more attackminded away from home. As this is where we have really fallen behind in the league. Can Rafa change his ways? Time will tell I guess.

We have alot more than one top class player in our squad but they are not as good as United's or Chelsea's.

Neville has been and still is the best right back in the league for nearly 10 years now.

If you think any different you are blinded by hatred for the manc ****.

Finnan doesn't get forward near enough.

in your opinion, I know mancs who think Finnan is a more solid player.

yes and thats because, Scum were blessed with the nineties youngsters and have added several 15m+ players to there team, Chelsea are minted as well

Rafa will only change his ways once he has the correct personnel, we are set up for not losing at the moment as i dont think Rafa has full confidence in his team. Add an eto-o, tevez and a couple of others and we may see a different set up.

Rafa is one of the most intelligent managers in the world, give the bloke some credit

Valencia was also setup for not loosing, that will always be Rafa's way. But at the same time, even this team is set up for winning games aswell as not loosing, we played with two strikers at Camp Nou, how many teams will do that and win. We will just look and play more attractive with more technically gifted players than we currently have, it doesnt necessarily mean Rafa will change his view on the game, IMO it will be still a very similar approach.

you could easily put Reina, finnan, Carragher, agger, Mash, Alonso and even riise in that team and it would still be as strong.

This thread had better stay civil (ish). DB isn't a wum, he's just wrong

I genuinely think both Fergie and Maureen would take Carragher in an instant. Carra and Terry would be the best pairing in the league.

However, comparing our team tro either ManU's, or Chelsea's, is a bit silly. Fergie has only got 20 years on Rafa, and Maureen has had the same time but is about £400m up on him.

Our away form in the league is still not up to scratch, and we still do not have enough genuine attacking quality in several positions. However, our squad now is definitely significantly better than it was two years ago, and Rafa has demonstrated enough tactical and managerial nouse in his career to give us hope that with genuinely competitive finance, he still could be the man to guide us to no.19.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

That team has a soft centre. Of all the players available there is no way id start with that midfield pairing. Cesc wouldnt be near the team for me, not experienced enough. Alonso, Essien, Makelelle, Lampard and MAscherano would all make it in ahead of him.
